Spinal Cord Disorders Message Board

Spinal Cord Disorders Board Index

Have you had any diagnostic work done so far - x-rays, MRI, etc? If you have not, you might consider doing so, to find out if something is causing your pain that could be corrected. Some people here report things getting better on their own, but that's not mostly the case for folks here.

Pain is kind of a personal tolerance thing, and as long as you can tough it out there's no reason for surgery or pain meds.

However, if you have problems (disc disease, bone growths, etc) it can get back enough to interfere with the way the nerves work. I toughed it out for about 12 years, and eventually I lost the use of my left arm and hand. It is also possible to have spinal cord damage that can result in other problems, like loss of bowel and bladder control.

It would seem wise to consult with doctors and try to find out what is going on - the more you know about the condition you are dealing with the better you'll be able to make good choices.

Good luck!
Bob
