Spinal Cord Disorders Message Board

Spinal Cord Disorders Board Index

Hi there - I have been posting this past year - 52 year old healthy women with Cspine DDD (severe - moderate) rearing its ugly head 1.5 years ago - (MRI/Xray info below) - have been a good patient done all the therapy (physio, massage, TENS, acupuncture etc) - all the tests and no signs of improvement - still limited range of motion from side to side, lots of pain in neck, over shoulder down arm and in between shoulder blades and some numbness when sleeping etc.... don't get me started on my shoulder checking while driving! :)

had trigger point injections - no help
had multi level medial branch block - no help (so that means not a candicate for RFA)
had bone scan - nothing new revealed only confirmed worst level is c6-7

Physiatrist is back from vacation in a month and we are to chat then and he mentioned based on bone scan results might order a CAT scan - but curious - who has gone this route and what was offered up as next steps for you? While I appreciate his thoroughness and the not rushing into some kind of surgery, I have had enough of this cspine pain and limitations...

XRAY Results:
*Severe degenerative disc disease with endplate spurring and severe loss of disc space at C5-6 and C6-7.
*Advanced degenerative facet arthrosis with severe facet joint narrowing at C-4 and C4-5 with 3mm of anterolishesis of c4 on c5 secondary to degenerative facet arthrosis.
*Uncovertebral spurring and facet arthrosis contributes to moderate neuroforaminal stenosis at C3-4, C5-6 and C6-7 worse on left than right.

MRI Results:
c4-5 - right neural foramina is narrowed to moderate degree.
c5-6 - disk is largely degenerative. Broad based post. disc osteophyte present - no focal protusion/herniation. Effacement of csf anterior to the cord but no signal changes in cord.
Moderate bilateral uncovertebral degenerative changes.
c6-7 - disk is largely degenerative. Severe disk space narrowing. Broad based post. disc osteophyte present - no focal protusion/herniation. Effacement of csf anterior to the cord but no signal changes in cord.
