... thanks mulchie we have been to the stroke clinic today where my hubby had a cat scan as the stroke specialist has confirmed not a tia but a full stroke,we are now awaiting a mri scan to see what damage has been done, my husband still has some weekness to ris left hand side but is a lot better he has also been put onto asprin for a month,he also is going to have a 48 hr heart... ... A TIA is basically a Mini Stroke and a real stroke can follow a TIA. Just don't let the doctors tell you that he's too old to have a stroke as that is complete and utter nonsense. A stroke can happen at any age for many different reasons and is not a function of age. ... (1 replies)

... hole episode lasted about 20 minutes and I went to ER. They didn't find any vessel damage behind my eyes, but my blood pressure was severely elevated. They did a CAT scan of brain and blood work and couldn't find any signs of a stroke, but my question is... do TIAs always show up in tests and exams? ... (6 replies)

... Ali, i went and looked it up myself (this board is deserted) CAt scan can pick this up if it was bad enough but is only 50% accurate after 1 week. So my advice is to go to ER and tell them your symptoms if you have another one and CALL YOUR DR. right now and tell them whats going on. TIA's are nothing to mess with and there is treatment.
