... Lynette, The surgery is very easy. I know alot of people who had no problems with their meds when they had the surgery. I wasn't expecting this since I had been on meds for 8 years. ... I didn't gain weight---I was kept hyper/tsh suppressed for thyroid cancer for a while. I also maintained my exercise level, and ate ok---stayed the same before and after. You don't want to be too hyper---you may get very hungry from it (causing weight gain)---but if you have a doctor that's willing to work with you to find your best level, you should be fine. ... fogged. i feel like i am on an island by myself. so, i forgot to mention i had total thyroidectomy. symptoms are back full steam ahead. so tired again. this weight issue is driving me nuts ... and i think think i offended the endo when i was trying to tell her how i felt. freezing, tired, fat, etc. ... I think my biggest fears are it messing with my voice and not being able to sing anymore and the possibility of weight gain while adjusting my meds. My endo is starting me on 100 mcg synthroid the day after surgery. I think he based my starting dose on my height and weight. ... (5 replies)
