TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Message Board

TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Board Index

I have been wearing splint for the last 10 months, and now ready for reconstructive part of the treatment. My TMJ specialist gave me approx. $23,000 estimate for replacing 16 teeth. (ouch!) And my insurance company, although they have been paying 70% of all the costs incurred so far, is now denying the coverage as 'it is all dental work'. TMJ is a medical condition, and I wanted to know if anyone had to go through the same battle with insurance companies. If so, were you successful? I am going to fight for this, as the exemption clause said 'medical coverage of TMJ treatment' - to me, reconstruction of mouth is part of medical condition - I am not going to do this because my teeth are bad... Did any of you had to hire a lawyer? Your input will help. Thanks.
