TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Board Index

You could very well have TMJ issues, but be careful with low potassium! I was having nausea and dizziness, muscle cramps and heart racing and blamed it on the TMJ (which I also have), until one day I passed out at work twice. I was taken to the ER where they found my potassium was very low (2.7). This was over 2 weeks ago, I have been taking supplements and watching my food intake and nausea, dizziness and bad muscle cramps along with heart racings are gone.
Yes, bad bite can contribute. It can strain your muscles and cause muscular TMJ, but if left unaddressed for a long time, could lead to degeneration in the joint. I would have it checked. I am not sure if a general dentist will be of help, try to find someone who understands and treats TMJ specifically. Also, if you have any specific bite issues, you might consider addressing them. Good luck!
