... I understand what you are trying to ask. I don't think they can see how the whole jaw functions when moving it with an arthroscope, as in where the discs are positioned as you open and close your jaw. They wouldn't be looking at the muscle function of the jaw, head and neck either, which can cause jaw pain and headaches. (4 replies)

Obviously if you have a fracture in the jaw or condyle, there needs to be something more invasive other than orthodic therapy, but my dentist has treated tmd patients for 20yrs, post surgicals, and trauma (accidents), and he's never had to resort to sending someone for a TJR.
