Not all your symptoms are related to a possible tmj issue - the others may be more related to the drug use - but if you have been grinding for while this flattens the surface of the teeth over time causing the bite to change and putting additonal stress/strain on the tmj joints - as evidenced by the recent swelling developing after vigorous chewing, although this may also be... Hi again - yeah that is pretty common with tmj - just increase your at home self-care therapy for a few days - warm moist compresses and/or ice packs, which ever you feel better with or alternate both 10 mins each, soft diet - no heavy chewing (guess that is hard to do with a loose tooth anyway) or opening your mouth too wide, no gum chewing (I'm sure you are not doing this... ... Well it does sound like a tmj flareup but neck problems (aka cervical or c-spine) problems can cause similar symptoms as well. Until you see your dentist you can try the following: Try using warm moist compresses or ice packs or alternate both, 10 mins on and 10 mins off - place them on your neck, around your jaw, ears, temples, etc. Do this several times a day if you have...
