... Definitely stop with the gum chewing! It is probably over working your masseter muscles to death......use moist heat on the temples, jaw at night if you have time.....until the spasms go away. IF they persist, even without the gum, see a good tmj specialist to get an exam. :) (5 replies)

... Well it does sound like a tmj flareup but neck problems (aka cervical or c-spine) problems can cause similar symptoms as well.
