Hi---your condyles are literally millimeters from your ear drum, and if they are too close to the tmj socket, (fossa) I believe....they can cause major dizziness, ear pain, etc. I would get a tomogram to see what condition your joints are in, and if you need to maybe get into splint therapy to bring the condyles in a more down and forward position. ... I'm in a terrible state right now. For months I've dealt with an off-balance feeling that may be caused by TMJD (TMJ). I've visited ENTs, a neurologist and a dentist. I had an MRI done of the brain and arteries which were negative/normal. A Jaw CT scan revealed that the left side joint in my jaw looked arthritic which may be causing the dizziness. ... I have extreme dizziness and last year I was diagnosed with TMJ, but I never followed up with braces to straighten the jaw. All I do is wear my splint at night. I'm very dizzy (more of an off balance feeling) during the day and have pain in my upper teeth and near my temples & ears. Did her orthodontist say the dizziness could be coming from the tmj?
