... Yes, polyps and fibroids can be a "cause" of a thick lining. With imaging, it can be hard to differentiate polyps and small fibroids from the lining itself making it appear thicker than it is. ... (1 replies)

... ven't had a period in a year. I finally went to the gyno for that reason and concerns for PCOS. I had a pap and was given an ultrasound. I was told that I have a small cyst on my ovary, but was told that the lining of my uterus was very thick 23mm! She said that she doesn't feel it is PCOS or Menopause... what could it be? ... ... Ultrasounds are best done 1 or 2 days after a "full" period ends since that is when the lining is thinnest. Of course, it can be hard to know when that is if perimenopause has caused a lot of irregular bleeding. And yes polyps can be present without being visible on the u/s and can make the lining look thicker than it is. Ditto for small fibroids (so it's possible they are... (3 replies)
