... It's very unlikely that you have cancer--the thickening of the lining is due to the fact that you do not shed the entire uterine lining w/each period. Not uncommon. That's the cause of your clotting & weird, heavy periods. I'm sure a good doc can get you straightened out. It's generally a hormonal issue and I know when I had it, it basically made me nuts. ... After having an ultrasound in November and found out I had 14 mm uterine lining they said it should be 4-8mm. The next step was to do the endometrial biopsy in the office. They tried and it was so painful the gyn stopped and 2 weeks later he did a d&c in the hospital with a hysterosopy all with not cutting involved. ... pme47634 Wow--I think having a hysterectomy is a rather drastic approach. There are many other less invasive procedures that will take care of a thicken lining. My lining measured 18 mm and my doctor did a hysterscope which showed that I had a large uterine polyp and than he did a d&c to take out the whole lining which was sent to pathology to make sure that there was not...
