Vaccination & Immunization Message Board

Vaccination & Immunization Board Index

If it was a serious reaction, I wouldn't get it again. As a child, you get the DTP which is Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (which is whooping cough). After seven years old, you get the Td vaccination from then on which doesn't have the pertussis vaccine in it. There is a new vaccine called Tdap which is a one time booster (instead of the typical Td) for teens and adults to boost their pertussis immunity since it wanes over time. When you are due for another tetanus shot, just tell them you just want the Td vaccination since you had a reaction to the Pertussis as a child.
