I myself, was period free for almost a year and a half. My doc is wonderful too, she gave me something to help me through that first day, and to be honest, the pain wasn't as bad as the cramping I'd get with my period. So I found it tolerable. I didn't have any noticable symptoms during that period free time. I still had my ovaries that were working ok, so I didn't have to take any horomones then. I did however, lol, still ovulate and hence PMS. But it was worth it. Now, after my hysterectomy, I have 1 ovary, still not on hormones yet. Everything is doing great. Like I said, it's a step to take before doing anything major like having a hysterectomy. Everything was done vaginally (for the ablation ) so it's nothing like you would have gone through with a C Section. In fact, my hyst. was done vaginally too, and beleive it or not, I was home the next day. I took things slow and easy. Make sure after you have it done to follow your doc's rules (no lifting, exercise, or sex, etc...) trust me, it'll only make the recovery longer. But truly, it wasn't so bad. In fact, if it wasn't for the positive biopsies, I probably would have tried it again rather than a hyst. Everyone is different, so how you feel and your recovery may be different than what I went through. But I think you'll be glad to get some relief. I know I am. You'll have to keep me posted. Hope all goes well for ya. And congrats on the baby! :)
Thanks so much I feel better talking to people that have actually done this.
when you had the ablation, was it the balloon? I know they can do a laser one and I think some other type, my dr does the balloon with hot water.
I have a friend that had a hysterectomy vaginally and I did not even know they could do that!!!
With my last period I was like I cant take it anymore, so much pain and bleeding!! its like I lose 7 days out of my life each month... I think I am going to do it.. Im really anxious about it but the dr said they will give me something the day of surgery to relax..
I will keep you posted
if you can let me know what type of ablation you had...?
