I've tried everything. I've had this GERD (LPR) for about 6 months. For the past two weeks I have had it where it is manageable. Almost no reflux during day and smaller amount at night (then before). I feel like I'm closing in on the problem or cause of my reflux (though I've been wrong before). Here is what I'm doing:

1) I'm drinking 8 glasses of water a day. I don't sip it which seems to make the throat worse, I just down each glass at one sitting.

2) Improved diet. Eliminated most junk food. Watch the potato chips, not that they bother the reflux (they don't for me) but if their not chewed all the way they seem to irritate throat (if you have LPR). I now chew completely before swallowing. No sharp edges.

3) I take a tablespoon of flaxseed oil. Probably not doing anything but suppose to be good for you. Anyway it doesn't bother me that I'm aware of.

4) Take a half of pepcid complete before sleeping if I need it. To much and I can't sleep.

5) Follow all the normal stuff, sleep on wedge pillow, don't drink OJ etc. etc.

6) IMPORTANT ONE - I've eliminated all stress and will never take antibiotics or any other prescription again. I firmly believe they do more harm then good. I will have to be on my deathbed before I take another prescription and screw the stress. I'll live in a trailer before I get all stressed out again. It's not worth it. I'd rather have my health then Millions of dollars.

7) unimportant one - Watch the sugar candy. I eat those canada wintergreen candys all the time. Because my teeth had to deal with acid for such a long time, these candys seem to make my teeth very sensitive, I guess becuase of their sugar. I stopped eating them and am using orajel for my teeth. They seem to be improving.

8) I take a digestive enzyme after each main meal. Not sure if it does anything but who knows.

9) I take one benefiber chewable just so I get a little fiber a day. I have been constipated alot, so adding this I figure may help a little.

After eating Christmas dinner and drinking a few beers I had trouble sleeping. Obviously reflux coming up so I took a pepcid complete. Of course now my throat gurgles when I swallow but its nothing like it was before when I did something like that and ate late. I'm even going out drinking for New Years. Hell Yeah. (Hey I take the good days when I can these days).
