Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

Acid Reflux / GERD Board Index

I've already had surgery for severe GERD. Three years ago I started getting LPR symptoms. I can't taste my food, my tongue and throat burn, my sinuses burn and I cough and spit mucous in the morning till I'm nauseous.

I don't sleep well and I have no appetite and have lost nearly 50 lbs.

I've tried the "be positive" route and it doesn't work when your food won't go down and just gets stuck in your esophagus.

Thanks for offering the suggestions.

Please try physical therapy. I lost 40 lbs in 4 months over this stuff. Burning throat burps, etc. It was the tension in my throat that was causing the abnormal flow of food, the saliva problems.... even tension in my tongue.... I actually get my tongue rubbed now if you believe there are people that do that. Myofascial release can deal with this wholistically. If you had the surgery, I think it is time to think outside the box.... if your diet is clean and you are on PPIs (leave it this way for empirical reasons alone)... something else is causing this.... it could be muscular.... it could be nerve related.... it could be allergy related.... I think my only advice would be just to tackle each one, one at a time, to see if you can isolate what might make you feel better. It is horrible, trust me I know what you are going through... it is the worst. I just hope you don't say that you have GERD and thus you must suffer for the rest of your life and be done with it. I would argue the first thing to get under control would be the anxiety.... as it leads to a snowball effect that makes things even worse. Once I got my anxiety tackled I then started moving forward.

I suspect there is something more to it than acid.... who knows, it could even be a bile reflux issue which they can test for.... this treatment is totally different as you are likely aware.

I think I saw Sunrise write in a post once to just pretend of the moment that Acid Reflux does not exist....now, what could be causing this? Just tackle the problem from a few different angles. It is healthy to try a fresh approach to your recovery... sure as hell can't make things worse. I know the feeling. GET BETTER!!!!!
