Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

Acid Reflux / GERD Board Index

I have a sore throat after I eat, swallowing is hard, it feels like there's a lump in my throat, my stomach is bloated after I eat - so much so that pants fit me better when I don't eat, even if all I eat is a cup of yoghurt. It feels like food doesn't want to go down, and it feels like big mouthfuls/pills get stuck in the food pipe. After eating I have a cough and an irritated, scratchy throat and my voice is raspy. Often I get this sort of hiccup-thing where food comes painfully back up, but not so far up as to throw up. Also I have heartburn at random. I haven't discovered any connection between what I eat and heartburn, I can eat peppery food, fine and then the next day I have vegetable soup and it burns.

I went to my GP and she discovered some strep bacteria in my throat and told me to spray iodine spray into my throat, which I did, but the throat thing hasn't gone away.

I don't know what this might be. Just chronic indigestion/lazy stomach? Is there such a thing? Or is it really acid reflux?

If I go to check it out again, do they have to shove that awful camera tube down my throat to make a diagnosis? Because that frightens me. I have an insane gag reflex. I just know I'm going to be in a lot of pain, throw up, almost choke, and they probably won't succeed getting it down there. Would there be another way? Or even if I do have it, should I just live with it, or would that have some bad consequences down the road?
