Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

Acid Reflux / GERD Board Index

My name is Matt,

About a month ago I began showing symptoms of acid reflux so I went to the doctors and they started me out on Dexilant. After that I began throwing up and having irritable bowels. I continued going to different doctors and had a cat scan, multiple blood tests, endoscopy, and a barium swallow. All coming back negative mostly, with just evidence of GERD. I was then put on Nexium, and after two weeks I was switched to Zegerid, because I had frequent headaches and constipation. After two weeks on the Zegerid I quit taking them cold turkey because I had headaches all day long for those two weeks and constipation so I was freaking out thinking something was seriously wrong with my head(and still am freaking out), and my bowels. After quitting the medicine, my reflux came back for the first few days pretty bad, but now on day 10 without the medicine what has me really scared is constant lightheadedness/fatigue. Is that something that can be attributed to Gerd/Lpr? Or anxiety related (I think about my health all day long and worry constantly that something serious is going on) the other symptoms I am showing currently Are chronic sore throat, pain around my nose and eyes, back of the head and neck aches/pains, nausea, some loss of appetite. Any answers or suggestions to these questions would be greatly appreciated.
sore throat is likely from acid, nausea again acid so may be loss of appetite. anxiety can make things worse, i have horrible anxiety also, when my anxiety is bad i feel like i am going to die. and i feel like food will get stuck in throat. but having acid reflux doesnt help either, it really does make it tighter.

This whole thing takes a toll on your body...all different ways...i am surprised that you wereonly on the PPI for such a short time...but glad that it worked for you....
I also have anxiety..u should read some stuff on the anxiety bored here...its helpful...
i find that even though i am cutting down my dosage of PPIs that i am still fatigued or get tired easily...i dont get to many headaches but where i live the weather changes give me headaches too.....lol,,,I also find that with having anxiety i am way more tense than i actually realize...especially when i actually take the time to relax my shoulders and legs etc...try it and u will catch urself tensing up after awhile and get in to the habit of making yourself relax........i have found that anxiety is the cause of many many problems.......sorry to ramble,,,but i know how you feel in the way that you think the most terrible things are wrong with you,,,and when you find out that is not the case then you go on to the next and the next trying to figure it out....i have learned to just try and relax it is very very hard,,,but it does work...get a hypnosis cd and listen to it..it does help,,even if you dont go under u will still relax and feel better for it...going for a walk helps me to...or a drive somewhere...anywhere...i like to be around my niece and nephew...they take my mind off everything but toys...lol...

there is also some natural supplement u can take for anxiety i cant remember the name off hand but will get it for you if u like,,they are just tiny little pills u put under your tongue whenever u feel anxious any time day or nite as many as u need...as wellas some other natural things like certain teas,,,and b vitamins...
i have tried most except for the u der the tongue ones cuz i just found out about them 2 days ago...
I hope i was of some help to u.
Be Well
Spunky:)
