... the ENT started me on Prilosec twice daily along with a shot of Gaviscon in the evenings. It took about a month before I started to feel markedly better, but this combo did work for me. ... (32 replies)
... These are questions for your doctor. You might also do an Internet search to find out all you can about Kapidex. Just a real quick scan tells me that your twice a day dosing is probably fine and is typical for erosive esophagitis. I take Prilosec - not Kapidex - and asked my ENT a general question about high dosing of PPIs just this week (because I have the same concerns... (1 replies)

... tings mountain . I am in an almost identical situation as you. I have had the Nissen about 12 years ago, and am on 2 Prevacids a day. I just picked up some 60 mg Kapidex from my gi doc yesterday. ... Great response Mountain. I think what you, as well as I, are trying to get across is that in our particular circumstances, the Prevacid, then Kapidex worked very well. This is not to say this is the case for everyone. For others, Aciphex, or Nexium, or Prilosec etc. ... (32 replies)

... Hi Mountain, I didn't look it up under Prevacid but my dr. told me it's being replaced. If you look up Kapidex, it actually says that it's the reformulation of Prevacid. I didn't know that it comes in 30 mg. Thanks so much for telling me that. I plan to call the company tomorrow and speak to one of the reps. I sure don't want 60 mg. if I don't need it. They sell empty gelatin... (32 replies)

... I've been on all PPI's over the course of my battle with reflux. Prilosec, Protonix, Prevacid, Nexium, Aciphex, Zegrid, and Kapidex. My time on each of these was a minumum of one month and up to 4 years. I agree that it is a very individual thing in response to any of the PPI's. I didn't find a lot of difference between most of them. Some worked a bit better than... (10 replies)

... in the evening. I have also read about newer PPI"s like Kapidex that are supposed to be "time release." You probably need to take your medicine differently or add something so you are not hurting in the evening. ... (3 replies)
... Sorry Abby, not my doing. Between my acid reflux and IBS (developed as a result of 2 weeks on Nexium), I know everything I'm not supposed to eat, but noone will tell me what I can eat. Really hard to get a balanced diet in. I totally crave something other than water and soy/almond milk. I use decaf as a "cheat" occassionally...maybe twice per month. I have some great... ... I have Teva generic... Trying all these different ones, generic, otc, etc is very difficult...the placebo effect and your own knowledge can be very powerful. Why dont you try having a friend give you different forms of the prevacid without you knowing what you are taking. Blindfold, eyes closed etc. I had a friend who went through this with the nexium/prilosec, and the... (17 replies)
