... Thanks for the response! Currently I'm taking Aciphex and although it's helping, I still don't have the relief I once had on Prilosec and Nexium. I don't understand why they aren't helping like they used to. Maybe it's because my condition got worse. ... (7 replies)

... Hi, :) Whatever the case may be, I will be seeing a gastroenterologist to help deal with this situation. I have been on the PPIs for 3 months total. That should have been long enough. A part of the problem could be my medications. A couple of them can adversely affect the GI system in some people. Another health issue I have might or might not play a role in any... (6 replies)
... I find that pretty bizarre. The nice thing about acid reflux is that it is pretty straight forward. You know very quickly if the drugs are working or not, and if you stop for a few days or weeks you are not doing total, irrevisible harm. Not like cancer or other serious condition drugs where results may be hard to measure and you take them anyway just because the consequences... (6 replies)

... I discovered zinc was the problem by pure accident. I was taking it for a totally different reason and I found that when I took it after a meal it made my reflux go away. I thought it was just a fluke but I continued to take it and its totally been working ever since. The longer I take it the better it works. I'm to the point now where I don't have any reflux symptoms at... (10 replies)
... How did you determine that zinc was your problem? What type of doctor or testing did you seek out? I have had this problem(a lite version) for several years. ... I am a 22 year old female who had a sudden onset of about a year and half of GERD (more specifically, LPR) symptoms. While I have no heartburn, I feel the need to clear my throat hundreds (maybe thousands) of times a day. It causes headaches and a loss of voice. ... I have known this for a while, and wanted to share this with you guys. Apparently the Proton Pump Inhibitors (Prevacid, Prilosec, Nexium) prevent vitamin B-12 from breaking down in the stomach, due to the decrease in stomach acid. B-12 is normally broken down in the stomach and absorbed in the small intestine. I have been taking PPIs for 7 years. I had erosions in my... (2 replies)
... For those of you posting about herat palps & reflux. Your vagus nerve runs next to your esophogus, I believe it also is connected or runs close to your stomach & lungs.
