Like you I am uneasy on being on PPI'S long term because of stuff coming out in the press ect We're all different when coming off them as I was told to not take mine for 10 days prior to an endoscopy...end result the endoscopy showed gastritis and duodenitis which I am convinced was due to coming off Omeprazole cold turkey I then had to have a few months on a larger dose... What does seem to work is baking soda added to water--then drink the water. ... I can relate. I stopped PPI's 3 weeks ago, and sometimes the burning is so unbearable that I take way more Pepcid than I should. My doc said I could take 40mg Pepcid 3 times a day, but a couple of times, I've taken probably 4 times a day. The burning is just so excruciating that I can't seem to bear it. (4 replies)
