Spiro query
Dec 14, 2003
Hi all,

I must admit I'm fascinated by all this spiro talk; in the same breath, I must say that I am a long way off actually taking it. I wanted to know what the effects of spiro when successful are comparable with? Are they comparable to nothing, because there so good? For example, I am assuming that many current spiro users have tried B5 - are the results in any way comparable to B5. Do pores generally close-up on spiro as they would for B5, or, even further. I know Joeh has mentioned that his skin is almost perfect due to spiro; and what dosages are people taking (especially males), in an effort to produce desirable effects? At what dosage does permanent sterility enter into things? My sister asked her Md about this drug, and he seemingly, was not even aware that spiro was used for this. She even attempted to make countless appointments with endocrinologists, and they declined to see her, upon hearing that she needed help with possibly excess testosterone induced acne, that has resisted treatment with accutane. Anyway, as for me, I'm currently trying the diet path (sister as well), but you can see why were so interested :D

Hey karl! I have never tried B5 actually. I took 50 mg of Zinc for a few weeks but didn't see any difference in my skin. I have been on 50 mg of spiro now for 3 weeks and I am totally clear. It's amazing. The nice thing about it is that it doesn't make you photosensitive, the side effects are not horrible (can be for men i guess), and it doesn't cause red/flaking/irritated skin. My pores look much smaller and my complexion has a healthier glow. I think the normal dosage is 25 mg. to 100 mg for acne but I could be slightly off. I would for sure tell your sister to try this if she wants and find a dermatologist or gp that will prescribe it. I would find out more of the possible side effects for men before you try it out. It's odd why some doctors are so clueless or reluctant over others like mine who prescribed it without me even asking. I have had mild but persistent acne on my face for two years and tried lots of topicals and antibiotics. Nothing has worked like this. I'm sure Joeh knows more than I do, especially in how it effects males, so hopefully he will post here soon!
