lulu, I wouldn't want to get your hopes up. Yesterday I thought I'd go into town (despite the crazy traffic) and spend a 30 book voucher I had. I though I was looking for something about gluten/wheat free diets. But I stumbled across Perricone's book and leafing through it I realised how much more useful it was than any of the other books. This book explains, in basic terms, the connection between diet and inflammatory skin conditions and the resultant ageing (and what is more inflammatory than cystic acne?!).

The book barely touches upon acne directly. Although he does recommend that people taking accutane - such as my flakey-skinned self - eat salmon everyday for its oiliness. But it's clear to me that good skin has to start somewhere and that's what the book does promote. To put it simply, I don't think I'm reading too much between the lines to think that the Perricone diet will aid my battle with acne.

I won't go into detail here but suffice to say that I'm going to steer clear of carbohydrate for a good long while at least until my skin looks good and I can afford to experiment. If you want I can tell you the supposed benefits of salmon (to encourage you to eat it - I really don't like it but am willing to try anything to help my skin) and the 3-day "nutritional face lift" I am trying out. The book is titled "Dr. Nicholas Perricone's Programme". It's published by Thorsons, ISBN: 0-00-715785-1. I will post more information on my experiences but I don't want to until I have clear evidence that I'm improving. I hope you understand that. Of course, if you want to experiment with me then I will tell you more ;) It's great to know someone else has renounced sugar at this festive time.
