I think I'm older then most on this board. (I'm 30)But I'm willing to give it a shot. I have Acne on my back and have had it for some time. I have about 2 or 3 cysts and the rest little pimples. How can I rid myself of this problem for good? Over the counter stuff don't work and my Doc will not give me Acutane due to other meds I take. I read some posts about vitiman B5 is it worth me trying? I also have mild acne on my face (very mild) but lately the sides of my chin have been flaring up.
I'm very selfconcious about this problem and want to do something about it. I also bought pure tea tree oil but I don't know how to use it..just pure or water it down???
Please help- thanks in advance
Hi i am 30 too and suffered with a spotty back for many years, antibiotics actually made my back worse,i have since tried B5 at 1000mg daily and found this to be the only cure for myself,i also wash my back with head and shoulders shampoo allowing it to soak into my problem areas for a while before washing it away,i now hardly ever get a spot on my back and if i do they dont last too long.Btw i have stopped the B5 for nearly a month now and my back remains clear
Certain conditioners cause my back and chest to break out. I now use Aussie conditioner and shampoo with Head and Shoulders and don't seem to be having any problems.
Listen, Mino didn't improve my body acne at all... not even a little bit. I was on these antibiotics for 6 months and all it did was screw me because after those 6 months when you're finally allowed to get prescribed Accutane (you gotta wait until other medicines are used first, according to the government), I had tons of scars on my back. If I was prescribed Accutane right away instead of getting butchered during those 6 months, I'd be totally scar free. Since you're specifically talking only about your back acne... then I'm almost certain Minocycline won't do much if anything to improve your condition in that area. I dunno what to tell you... it depends on how severe it is, maybe you only have mild acne back there... I had severe, so maybe you can try some over the counter stuff like these people have been saying but for me, Accutane was the only thing that worked... nothing OTC worked.
My back acne has gotten worse in the last couple of months. Before it was just a couple here and there, but now my back is covered. I don't know what has set it off, but I am really saddened about it. I have mild acne on my face but have got it under control, it seems like everything has gone to my back. I would really like to try some other things before jumping into using antibiotics. It just seems that once you start them you can never go off or your body becomes immune to it so they have to prescribe you something stronger. I think I too will try the head and shoulders to see if this works. Being that lately I have broken out immensly, I now have these brown scars on my back that make me look like a spotted leopard, I hate it!! Any suggestions on what to use to try and lessen the appearance of these scars? I am so self-concious about anyone seeing my back.

Thanks!

What skin tone are you? I have light/medium brown skin and I experienced (am experiencing) the same exact thing with the brown spots (also all those surface scars I was talking about). Here's what I'm going to do since I can't afford like crazy micro dermabrasions and laser procedures... I'm just gonna go lay down under a tanning bed. From what I've read on this site and heard from other people, this improves hyperpigmentation (the brown spots) and scars in general... I dunno how big of an improvement but since most of my scars are just on the top layer of my skin, I would think it would be pretty significant. I'd just do that if I were you... forget the scar creams and acids and laser whatever. It's not like you're going to have to go tanning for years and then get cancer... you just have to get one or two really good tans and then like new skin will start to form, you know what I mean? Because brown spots can take 6 months to a year to fade away by themselves... I dunno about you but damn I can't wait that long. Try the Head & Shoulders thing for sure... they all talk about that here (plus it's really cheap).

I am also light to medium skin toned. Its funny you mentioned the tanning bed. I actually have an appointment tonight at extreme tans to see if this would help. Good Luck to you. I hope this works for the both of us.

There is NOTHING but medication once it gets to a certain point. The infection is so deep in the pore that nothing will get rid of it. I know anti-biotics suck but you can always go to your local health food store and ask their vitamin expert whats good to use with antibiotics (accidophilus is good - its helps the immune system and counteracts the effects of the antibiotics)

Just do something about it NOW!! It usually takes a couple of months to start to work once the medication starts.

Also, work out a few times a week and drink lots of water and avoid sugar. Don't fall asleep with make up on and use only gentle cleaners and moisturizer
