Hi Cole,

I am not sure, but as a rule I never trust generic drugs, especially when their outcomes are so important to me.

I am taking accutane now. It will completely cure your acne. I took it two years ago. Unfortunately, I am the small percentage where it came back. I have to say, I was so pleased with my results. Your life will open up in so many ways.

I would suggest you not feel bad. You are worth it. And apparently your mom feels that way, too. Don't ever feel bad.

I think you should take accutane. But don't feel bad to take a medicine from India. The FDA regulates that medicine very carefully. The FDA is very thorough and wants to protect you. Also, Indians are very brilliant people. There may be some rumors because of political things going on right now.

Good luck!
My Dermatologist has prescribed acutane, and while i really want to go on it as i have heard of the great results, one months pills is going to cost $250 as our insurance is copay. My dermatologist has told us that the generic form of acutane isn't as good and comes from india and isn't as regulated. The pharmacist said its just as regulated. I was wondering exactly what i should do. the copay for the generic medicine is only $10 much cheaper. However i don't want to take any medicine that will harm me. My mom says it doesn't matter but i feel bad because of how expensive if it is. Especially having just gotten off braces. Do any of you know if the generic is as good as acutane? What would you do in my situation?
By the way i have gone on monocycline and Doryx. The monocycline did absolutely nothing. The Doryx helped a little but my face still isn't nearly what i would like it to be. My dermatologist really doesn't like the generic stuff but the pharmacist at walgreens said she would call him and try to get him to prescribe it. What i don't get is my insurane company will often times give you drugs cheaper if you mail the prescription in. They told us that the acutane would be $70 if we could mail it in. Then they told us, but unfortunately you can't do that. That made me really confused, because why would they have it so much cheaper? and if they can't mail it to me how do they even know how much it would cost? It seems like a waste of time to figure out how much to charge for something when you can't even sell it.
I'm currently on Claravis which is a gerneric brand of Accutane and it works great. It is only about $10 everytime and very much worth it. Ask your dermatologist about it and see what he says. The main side effects that I had are very very dry skin (you have to be sure to use moisturizer, cetaphil moisturizing cream works well) and very chapped lips. You can ask your dermatologist about Locoid ointment to help keep your lips moist.
