Hi guys...
I am not sure if anyone remembers me. I posted back in February. I used my first dose of Retin-A Micro 0.4% and it totally made my face peel and it became all red and blotchy. Not only was I upset, but my dermatologist was on vacation AND I had a date that weekend! Ugh, it was terrible. Eventually it cleared up somewhat, even though I still cancelled the date. Anyways, my skin looked good for about a month and a half.. then lately, I have gotten all these tiny zits on my forehead, and a few more sprouted on my chin. They're terrible looking. I vowed never to use Retin-A Micro again after the hideous reaction I had after only one dose. But I am getting desperate. Now, I know it has been said not to spot treat zits with Retin-A Micro, but would it be awful to take a chance and use some on my forehead?? I am thinking NOT... but I dont know.
Is there any GOOD over the counter acne wash that would clear this up? I heard about some Neutrogena 8 Hour wash that supposedly reduces the size and redness of zits in 8 hours. Who knows. I use Cetaphil, and although I like it, it doesnt seem to do much to prevent new breakouts.

I always used to be concerned with topicals and face washes too. And this was like only 2 months ago. You see, I had really bad acne on my face (moderate to severe) and now I have it very mild (except these stupid red marks all over my face, which I'm taking care of). I decided to try taking care of it at it's source, inside my body. I got clearer in about a month by taking antibiotics, spironolactone and saw palmetto. Now, I am noticing that it doesn't even matter what soap I use, or even if I wash my face at all. My boyfriend can now touch my face without me freaking out. My face doesn't hurt anymore, I don't have to wear as much makeup as I used to, etc. If I get a zit it's tiny and dries up nearly overnight. It's absolutely amazing and I pray it lasts. I tried all that retin-a stuff too and absolutely hated it. I heard micro was better, but I didn't want to take the chance.

I would suggest talking to a doctor about these options. It worked for me, but maybe not for everyone. Mine was primarily hormonal. Now, the face washes don't matter anymore.
