Head & Shoulders
Apr 16, 2004
Well, I've been using Head & Shoulders for my body acne for months now and it has worked wonders....sooooo, the other day I decided, why not try this on my face? So, I've been using it for 3 days twice daily and I've noticed some pretty good results. It's not as drying as you think it would be and it keeps my skin evenly toned throughout the day. I'm just using the classic clean kind for normal hair.

Anyone else tried this on their face??
im not even gonna try it, if it gets close to the eyes, it stings so bad

Cool i have never had the bottle to use it on my face,i have used it on my back though with great results,it just goes to show you that a simple inexpensive product such as head and shoulders can give as good a result as the more expensive products
Head and Shoulders either doesn't work or works for a couple of weeks then stops. This is the general view of a majority of people. Latayy26 how long did your boyfriend use it for? The problem is that the Zinc Pyrithione, which is the key component of H&S to killing off any yeast organism-causing dermatitis or acne bacteria, is far to easily adapted to by the skin. Therefore within a short space of time the bacteria becomes resistant thus rendering H&S useless.

I would say it may help people with very mild acne but that is about it.
It makes sense that H'N'S would work - acne is caused by bacteria that live on the skin (often it's staph bacteria), and the shampoo retards or gets rid of that bacteria. Folks with blepharitis (bacterial blooms of the eyelashes causing crustiness) often suffer from acne or dandruff, and H'N'S helps/cures blepharitis. I know this from personal experience...it may take a while for the shampoo to take full effect, tho, so anyone who's tried and it hasn't helped, keep at it for a while. You might even incorporate it into your hair regiment by simply shampooing twice a week with it - which isn't a bad idea in any case. You'd have to be sure to drink lots of water as well. Skin that's not being adequately flushed of toxins won't heal very well.

There's another factor to look at as well - sugars. Sugars cause the body to become overly alkaline, and when it's flushed through the skin the surface becomes a hotbed for alkaline-loving bacteria (yeast/staph/etc). Acidic skin, few problems. Vinegar helps topically for that.

Well since I read about it on these boards and told him about it, my boyfriend has been using H&S for about 3 months I'd say. I guess it's always possible it could stop working but for now you wouldn't even be able to tell that he used to get pimples on his back.
