feel like im wasting my time at these boards. as much as i have read and learned here these past few days, it seems like i can never come to a conclusion about anything.

i still feel like i have no idea what im going to try next.

b5 seems like it works but its summer and i cant handle an initial cystic break out, especially cuz i am somewhat prone to huge pimples/cysts nowadays

all these different cleansers have +'s and -'s, there are soooo many i have no idea which one is worth trying first.

i guess i just need to go to wal-mart or something, make a list of all the things that have worked for people here, and one by one try everything and see which one works best.... sigh

alright if any of you guys still have suggestions, please please drop your opinion. im sick of being 'the kid with acne'
You really nailed it. The proactive info show is really entertaing, and I have watched it at least three times. Its a lie because dirt on the skin does not cause acne. The reason people buy the system is because they are desperate for a cure. I laugh when they put Stephanie Seymour on and then say she had severe cystic acne as a teenager. What a lie. Most of those people on that infomercial are selling to the desperate and delusional like I was with cystic acne. No offense Vanessa, I still want to do you.
Hi i am a guy:
I have had cystic acne for 30yrs. I don't know if this is what you have since you haven't seen the doc.
I use Serious skin care glycolic cleanser
35% food grade hyogen peroxide I mix myself
BP
moisture with salicyclic acid
I no longer have those painful cysts under the skin.
Actully I mix these products with other products.
I still have acne but I'm much clearer these days.
I have given the the cleanser to others with acne they love it.
my skin is actually clearing up very nicely right now. the only active pimple i have is right below my lip and its pretty big but kinda old and should start going away soon. i have some bumps on my jawline, a few small annoying zits on my cheeks, and then just a bunch of pretty much dead red marks all over from recent breakouts.

to avron - i break out like every 3 or 4 days, but when i do, i usually do for 2-3 days in a row it seems. so i will have 2-3 days of breaking out followed by 3-4 days of clearing up. it sucks.

to tropical lady - when i first saw your name i thought it was topical lady, and i laughed, then checking back down i saw tropical and was disappointed. thanks for the suggestion tho. i dont think i have really bad cystic acne but i do occasionally get smaller cysts and get a lot of nodules that can be like cysts.

to shawn - thanks for sharing. my family doesnt have health insurance and probably never will so i think my only chance of getting any kind of RX is if i go to my university's health center and seeing if they have a doc that can help me out. your post should be encouraging to a lot of people and anyone who is currently trying retin A or micro should read what you have to say.

i must say i have learned an incredible amount from these message boards, lets hope that translates into clear skin.
peace.

I used B5 Supplements for 5 months with no apparent results. I kept hoping and hoping to see improvement but nothing came of it and it cost me alot of money. This really cut my hopes considering the promise from the place I got it was that it was nearly as good as accutane. The ONLY product that worked for me was Retin-A micro 0.1% gel. I didn't go to a dermatologist to get it, just filled out a form online and the wrote me a prescription. It's pretty expensive and it takes the full 3 months before results are seen. But it works wonderfully. The first time I used it was when I started getting really bad cystic acne on my cheeks. Eventually it made me look red like I was blushing all the time so I stopped using it. I think the reason for that is because I didn't use proper moisturizer. Then after my skin was clear for some time I didn't use anything except a light cleanser in the morning and at night before bed. Eventually though I started breaking out all along my jawline. This is when I began Pro-activ and learned it was a worthless product like most on the market. Regretfully I knew I would turn back to Retin-A. I've been using it again for about a month and I'm already starting to see improvements. This time I have a good moisturizer, Complex 15, and I use Avalon Organics Vitamin C Cleanser as a facial wash. The cystic acne on my cheeks NEVER came back even when I quit using Retin A on them so I hope that using it on my jawline will produce the same results down the road. Then I just have to let the red marks heal up which takes forever but oh well. Good luck to you.
awww ::hugs:: im a guy~
I seriously know what you are going through. I had acne for atleast a full year before anything was ever done. I went to my dermatologist and he prescribed Accutane for me. It started working almost immediatly(SP). It's been 4 years now with no bad breakouts. I had cystic acne ALL over my body and once in a while it comes back but not on my face. I have deep scars from where they used to be. I would definatally go to your dermatologist hun and see if it's possible you can do this treatment. It has changed my life so much because I was as miserable as you. Is your skin sensitive? Mine was really sensitive and nothing seemed to want to work. Have you tried Retin-A? My aunt had success with that but unfortunatally I didn't. I'm sure you have heard about a lot of acne medicines and treatments and I really hope that you find something that works for you ASAP. Keep me posted. :)
