Adult Acne
Oct 4, 2004
Hi,
I am a 32 year old female and I have never had any skin problems up until about 3 years ago when my skin started breaking out in tiny bumps/blemishes all over my cheeks. It has since spread to my forhead. My skin feels oily and the texture has changed. It is more rough feeling and it looks redish and not normal. I do not have huge red swollen full blown acne but more small red blemishes and whiteheads. I have tried numerous soaps/ creams medications etc but nothing seems to work. I used elidel/erythromycin cream (antibiotic) and it got rid of it for awhile but just came back. I guess my skin got used to the antibiotic so I just quit using it. Anyone else experienced this or had skin problems starting as an adult?

hi, thanks everyone for responding

To answer some questions, I've never had a baby so that can't be it.
i;ve tried numerous cleansers etc, clearasil, pure zone, oxy, all made my skin red and irritated, so did the benzoyl peroxide and retin-A, itchy flaky and red. none of that worked. I tried tetrycylene, minocylene, did nothing. I've been to three dermatologists who have prescibed me numerous medications. the topical elidel/erythromicyn cream helped but then it just came back again. Erythromicyn is a topical antibiotic. Plus, I don't think you can use these medications on your face forever.
where do you buy that cream with all the vitamins in it? i have never heard of it before?

I'm guessing the antibiotic worked for a while because itwas killing the bacteria. Unfortunatly it killed all the bacteria, even the good bacteria. Start taking the antibiotic again but also take a probiotic in the form of acidophilus. Back that up with yogurt and foods high in fiber. make sure the yogurt says on the back "active cultures." Yogurt with active cultures and foods high in fiber increase the effectiveness of probiotics.
