Id have to disagree with you ManderBC about the hormonal change. I see that you are in the healthcare area, but my question to you is why do we not get acne sooner to when we hit puberty. And if in fact that acne is caused by other "things", then why does acne subside after this stage of an individuals life? I believe as long as you clean your skin properly, use proper toners, and moisterize well, then it is all hormonal. One of my best friends is a dermatologist and we sit and talk about these things all day! :) There are always disadvantages and advantages to everything! The advantage to having oily skin is fewer wrinkles do to the oil. A disadvantage is that its helping acne to form. Dry skin you get wrinkes sooner and some are less prone to get acne. I understand what your saying Beauty. When you have all these things going on with your face, the last thing you want to do is use something gentle. Most if not all the products that you buy at Wal-Mart or Target have a high PH balance and thats what strips your skin of the essentials oils it needs. I dont use anything of that nature. Salicylic acid does work, but over doing it by using a cleanser that this acid in it and also people use the toners that also have Salicylic acid in it. Thats bad! I suggest using Cetaphil for a cleanser and then buying a little bottle of Salicylic acid (you can get this at Aveda) and mix a drop or 2 in with your moisterizer. This way it is attacking your acne all day long instead of just when you wash your face. I dont believe in Glycolic acid. Thats just a personal opinion. This acid basically unclogges your pores. The only way to get a younger, healthier looking face, is using a Retin-A product such as the one I have been using for quite some time and its called Tazorac and its gel form. Vitamin A is one of the only few vitamins that actually can penetrate the epidermis. Vitamin A is just a catalyst for cellular turnover. It helps cells multiply very quickly and helps shed the old cells. And over a period of time, your face will become more beautiful. Not only that, Vitamin A actually help the production of collagen in your dermis. Over time you face will become thicker and more supple. Like Martha Stewart says, "Its a good thing!" I hope that my info can help you! :)

Help? Man I should have paid you instead of my derm. Both you and Mander have some valid FACTUAL (nothing against my fellow boarders) information. But gee fitch you make acne seem less complicated than what we see it. It's a condition of the skin, treatable in it's own right? Meaning one thing might not be for you, but could help someone out tremendously and there's no one way about it, with so many misconceptions and misleading products the only thing to do is try it out, if it doesn't work go on to something else. For the first time today I wanted to cry because I went to get my eyebrows done and when the lady pulled my hair back it was all of these red pumps that hadn't come to a head but were just sticking out like I had some kind of disease. I've always had i guess what you would call good skin, so it's hard to believe that at 25 I'm going through this, and somehow I thought it was just a phase and would soon pass. Well 2 years later I'm still fighting it. Days when I just say I'll leave it alone and see what happens, it gets worst. I'm not trying anymore junk on my face, I'll just let the pimples come out as angry as they want and hopefully they'll go away quitely one day.

It's just too much energy trying to keep up with this thing called acne. It's winning....
:(
