Head and Shoulders?
Oct 23, 2004
Ive read in numerous posts and forums that head and shoulders shampoo clears up body acne. Is this true? has anyone ever used the product in success? Thanks for the replies..
I don't think this is going to help with your acne. I think this rumor got started because it can be very drying on the skin - maybe people think drying up some of the oil will help? My husband has problems with flaking/scaling skin, and his dermatologist told him to use Nizoral (active ingredient - ketoconazole) on his skin. This has helped a lot, but the underlying problem wasn't acne. It was ringworm or some other fungus.
The best thing that cleared me of body acne.
Use a Neutrogena or Phisoderm body wash with 2% Salicylic Acid.
Leave it on for 2 to 3 minutes. Then after you wash it off.
Use a PanOxyl acne bar with 5% BP. Leave it on for 2 to 3 minutes and wash off.

head and shoulders moisturizes not drys... it's for dry hair so if it made it more dryer than it's defeating the point it's advertised for.

Search this board for head and shoulders and backne/chestne. Lost of people have had success with H&S
head and shoulders contains 1% Zinc Pyrithione which as a topical works to reduce acne on the back. main point is, try it for a few weeks and see if it works, if it doesn't scrap it, it's cheap enough. everyone's different, its bound to work for some and not others like everything. it worked a treat for me though.

how do u apply the head and shoulders on the back? with a sponge? or do u just put it straight on the back? thx
I've used it. It worked great. It kept me very clear. And it's cheap!

I think acne is caused by a number of things, some of which we probably don't even know about. My point is, it may work for some and not others. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what is causing the acne. Just try it, if it doesn't work scrap it like tiramasu said.
