I am so glad this post has been started as I too am using Retin-A (Tretinoin 0.05%) and am really not convinced this is an effective solution to acne. I have been using it for six weeks now and all I can say is I have experienced no change in my skin problems but what's worse my skin has begun to produce EXCESSIVE amounts of oil.
Geez, doesn't anybody have like a major oil increase when they use it? My face was oily to begin with, and when I used that..Oh my gosh..It was sooo horrible. I could like literally touch my face and the oil was just smear off my finger. It was nasty.
Diva, I could not have said that better myself...it is ridiculous the amount of oil my skin is producing. I have even cut the amount I use per night, so instead of a pea-sized amount I now use half but still no decrease in oil....yuk!

I cannot honestly understand how on earth this treatment needs at least 12 weeks to be effective. My skin problems is solely located on the top layer of my skin so I do not really experience cysts therefore why does Retin-A need to take so long. In my opinion this is ridiculous. Furthermore, I have read only a very few success stories of Retin-A. Off the top of my head, it seems as if kymberlee is the only one I can remember to have experienced any noticeable results.

I am seriously considering quitting this product as it is just swamping my face in so much oil. I too originally had oily skin but it would not be shiny 24/7, just very moisturised. In fact, I am convinced that these sudden outbreaks every week or so are caused by the Retin-A and would not happen if I did not use it. I don't believe in products that claim to purge your skin all at once and stand by the comment that "it has to get worse before it gets better".

I think the most crucial attack method to acne if all other means have been tried and tested (i.e. creams, lotions, diets, antibiotics, accutane etc.) is by cleaning the Liver out thoroughly. If you are almost certain that your acne is hormone related then I am sure that having a clean Liver will help maintain the purity of your skin.

Oh well just wanted to add my utter annoyance at Retin-A/RAM, it has really upset me. Maybe it would help to read some more real success stories...
