I really don't know if diet effects acne, but I'm going to give you my honest opinion here.

I use to think that sugar made me break out and greasy foods, this is a very common belief and has been around for years and years. However, it's simply not true, my mother had bad acne and it's her gene pool that gave me the acne. Now it's not to say the sugar wouldn't make my acne worse, that is inconclusive.

I do however feel that many people that believe a certain food/ingredient makes them break out will break out for exactly that reason, they believe it will. Let me elaborate, I think that acne is more suvere basically when you are mentally stressed or mentally obsessed with it. My acne is so much better now that I'm not working and that I've stopped obsessing over it. Not to mention I am a much happier person.

So do what you will with your diet, it's certainly not going to hurt you to keep a healthy diet, but my acne has gotten better and better from just not caring and trying to have fun. I mean if your gonna have a acne, you might as well make the best out of what you got and accept it. Try all the meds, or whatever you want, but at the same time, try living your life.

I can't say conclusively WHY people get acne (and it seems like doctors don't know either) but I do believe that many are genetically predisposed to acne and sugar/carbs makes it worse.

My boyfriend eats such crap but his skin is perfect and i have to eat really well for mine to be good. But then again, I can sleep like a baby night after night but he's plagued with insomnia.

I guess we all have our crosses to bear :(
