I started taking Accutane October 1st @ 40mg / day. At the time I was finishing up a break-out and had some red marks left over. I stayed at 40mg / day for 2 weeks before I went up to 60mg / day. I stayed at this dosage up until a few days ago when I decided to switch to 80mg / day.

It took about 2-4 weeks before I really started noticing some changes in my skin. I had mild ~ moderate acne on my face but not all the time... 90% of the time it was mild but I'd have an occassional break-out that was up near moderate levels. I had gone to two dermatologists, each prescribed me various oral and topical antibiotics... which nothing worked. That is when I decided to order Accutane on my own (since they wouldn't prescribe it) but since it would take about a month to get here I decided to order 0.1% Retin A topical cream... it didn't really help much.

So the first things I noticed was chapped lips and overall decrease in oil. Soon after the break-outs pretty much stopped altogether and became much less severe. All my pores started kind of "unplugging" themselves and I had all these little white plugs just sort of coming out all over my face (real tiny, not really noticeable at all except to me). While in the first month my skin cleared up so much. Red marks were gone, pores were much smaller, skin was really smooth... the only 'bad' thing was the kinda dry skin and occassional nose bleed. A small price to pay. ;)

Additionally, after showering I'd notice how much smoother my skin was all over. I never realized how 'unsmooth' my skin was until now. I am just over 2 months in and my skin is like model smooth, flawless. The results are just incredible. People who I thought had perfect skin I now look at and they just don't look the same to me anymore. Accutane is really a miracle drug.

The only side effects are chapped lips, dry skin, and occassional nose bleeds. Truly this is such a small price to pay for such incredible skin. I'm 21 years old and have always had mild acne and kinda oily skin. I am hoping this will be the end of my acne troubles... I am just afraid to stop taking it because I can't imagine living without this stuff. After taking Accutane I got back so much self-confidence. I can actually approach girls and ask them out on dates with confidence and so far have been quite successful. ;)

Anyway, I know Accutane isn't for everyone. I don't have any problems with any of my organs or my blood or anything like that, plus I am in pretty good shape from running track, which is why I figured it would be ok for me to take Accutane without blood tests. I do have one problem in my abdomen which I am having checked out, which originated 3 years ago, and my doctor had me get a blood test 2 weeks ago which turned up just fine... so it seems I made a good decision. I just wanted to post on this board because nobody who has clear skin really has any reason to post on the acne board, but I just wanted to let you guys know about this awesome drug. Unfortunately this has been the only thing that has helped me to this extent. Antibiotics and topical creams are too superficial... Accutane fixes the problem before it starts by shrinking the sebaceous glands. Anyway, check out Accutane if you can, it really does work miracles. :)
What are some signs of liver problems? I don't feel or look any different than before I started taking the medicine. There aren't any liver problems in my family and I have no other health problems. It makes me a little nervous, but so far everything has been great. I started at 40mg / day just to play it safe (I'm about 170lbs) and after a few weeks bumped it up to 60mg / day which was going great. I just recently went up to 80 mg / day and my skin seems to be getting a bit more dried out than before, but it's not too bad. I am going to a 'pyramid' type of thing... 40-60-80-60-40 so that I am not just stopping when I come off this stuff. 60mg / day worked best so when I am taking this dosage I will take it for the longest time period compared to 40 and 80. Other than being a little dry my skin is absolutely flawless, I wish I could post some pictures.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I can post the name of the website... I can sort of lead you to it though.

Go to Google.
Type in "freedom isotane"
The third result from the top of the first page gives you the name of the website. It's an Australian company I believe (haven't ordered in a few months). Just keep "freedom" and "pharmacy" in mind and you'll be good. ;)

It is kind of expensive... so be warned.
