I'm using a Murad face wash, exfoliating product, mask, and lotion w/sunscreen. Everything is oil-free. I use everything according to directions, some things just a couple of times a week. The problem is my face is breaking out just a little more, and I wonder if it just might spike up breakouts at first before it starts calming down. Has anyone else used any of this and how did you like it? It's not the 3 product acne program they do infomercials for, it's some of their other products. Thanks a lot.

Hi Catie1,

I am currently using the Murad Clarifying Cleanser. I really like this product. I have been using it for almost one year and have not experienced problems with it.

About one year ago I purchased the whole Murad Acne Complex system after seeing it on an infomercial. I was looking for a non-prescription acne control regime after I concluded a year of Retin-A therapy. I used the Acne Complex system faithfully for about 8 weeks (2 months) and found the Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel to be very drying. It contains alcohol so this may be why. I also did not really care for the Mask or the Acne Spot Treatment. But I did really like the Clarifying Cleanser and the Skin Perfecting Lotion.

I think that the Murad line has some good products. You might want to access the products you are using and only continue using the ones (if any) that your skin responds well to. You DO NOT need to use any product line's whole system. That is a complete lie. I now use about 8-10 different products to keep my skin clear. No two of them are from the same product line. Because everyone's skin is different, I believe in mixing and matching. I hope this helps you out.
I bought the clarifying cleanser, exfoliating gel and the spot treatment back in october. it seemed to work ok the 1st week but then in the last 2 months I have had the worse break outs IVE EVER had but...I dont know if it had anything to do with it. I also was trying out Birth Control for the 1st time so who knows. I can say this much it it really drying like the other person said. I kinda liked the acne spot treatment cause it seemed to dry out zits real good if you poped them by the next day. its like 3% sulfer and smalls horrible so you only use it at night. it stings too soo... I am not using it anymore right now cause my skin was getting soo dry. I think its just your typical stuff you by over the net that offers a bunch of false promises. luckly I bought the small back with all that stuff for $25 or $29 something.
I've had excellent results with Murad products.

Thoughout my school years, I used all the normal things over the years: Stridex pads, Clearasil, and Oxy 5 and Oxy 10. The benzoyl peroxide products (the Oxy's) were the best, but still, I had bad acne. I remember one girl with acne coming up to me and asking what I used: I told her and she said, "Good, I know not to use that", all insulting like. I said something like, "Hey, you've got a lot of acne too", and she said, "Yeah, but nothing like yours!" OUCH!

Things didn't change too much as I got older and I still had acne when I got to be 40. Just like througout school and beyond, I'd look in the mirror each morning to figure out which side of my face was "the good side" ... which side I would intentionally turn towards people. One day (surely not the first), there simply wasn't a good side: I was so depressed I literally sat down on the floor and wept like a baby: a 40-year old baby. That day, I called out sick from work because I simply couldn't face people.

I know this sounds like a commercial, but it's not ... it's true. So I was home that day lieing around watching TV when a Murad infomercial came on. I had bought several other things from infomercials (electric ab stimulators, Nads to remove body hair, etc.) and was disappointed with all of them....but I was desperate. So I ordered the Murad acne system. It worked wonderfully.

Since that day - a few years ago - my skin is the clearest its ever been since before puberty. I think I can actually say that don't have acne anymore ... not as long as I use the Murad products. (And yes, it is the products. If I don't use them for a while, like when I went on vacation and forget them, I do still break out).

I use only 3 out of the set: the clarifying skin cleanser, the exfoliating acne treatment gel, and the skin perfecting lotion.

So it was a "miracle cure" for me. I guess different people's skin just reacts differently to the stuff.

Hi there,

I am glad you have had success with the products. I hope people did not misunderstand my post. I should have probably explained that I have skin that lends to be very sensitive and prone to dryness as well as acne. I have needed to be very careful with the products I choose to use. I feel the Murad line has excellent products. I really like the Clarifying Cleanser and the Skin Perfecting Lotion. I swear by these products. They have been a part of my clear skin care rountine for almost one year. Even though I found the Exfoliating Gel to be drying I did see an improvement in my skin clarity. It helped reduce/fade my hyperpigmentation marks. I noticed that the key ingredients in Murad's Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel were Salicylic Acid (BHA) and Glycolic Acid (AHA). I did some research to find an AHA Lotion and a BHA Lotion since lotions tend to be more hydrating/moisturizing than gels. I now use Paula's Choice for my BHA Treatment and Reviva for my AHA Treatment.
