Doxy worked great for me after accutane. And changing my skin products to AHA based and getting gycolic peels have tremendously helped keep my face clear - even better than when I was off Accutane.
I have been on 3 rounds of Accutane... each time it comes back, but to a lesser degree. This time it has only partially come back, and the pimples are pretty small and not as widespread. Anyways, for those whose acne has come back a bit after Accutane, are there any OTC meds/treatments/creams that work for you now now that your acne isn't as bad? Thanks!
That's exactly what happened to me when I got off Accutane all 3 times!! LOL But anyway, I went on Doryx for about 4 years. It helped for a while on keeping my acne under control, but it quit working about this time last year. I finally got off it in August 2004. Right now I'm controlling my acne by watching what I eat. I also wash my face with Auromere Ayurvedic Soap w/Neem. I moisturize with Jojoba Oil and put Tea Tree Oil on my "spots". All three of those are OTC. The Jojoba Oil and the Auromere Ayurvedic Soap can be bought at health food stores. You can get Tea Tree Oil just about anywhere. HTH!!
my acne always comes back with a vengence after finishing accutane...but this last time (round 3) i decided to experiment with OTC stuff at the worst of my breakouts. over the past year i have progressed to more and more natural treatements and for now i'm using shea butter as a moisturizer and washing with warm water and a washcloth. about 3-4 times a week i'll rub a lemon over my face and let it sit for 1-2 minutes.

that's it. i'm not 100% clear but i've come a LONG way from the last breakout.

hope this helps.
So what is this Doxy stuff? Is that the full name, and where do they sell it?
Full name is DOXYCYLINE and you need to see a derm to get a prescribtion. You can become immune to it if you take it for a long time as mentioned previously. There are some threads here on Doxy which you may want to check out. There are people who had experienced acne coming back AFTER stopping Doxy. Some have advised to take priobiotics to avoid this happening. I only took Doxy for 2 months and touch wood, I didn't breakout after stopping. But then, I did take priobiotics after stopping Doxy and continued to watch my diet carefully. And mind you, my acne was really severe.

Good luck.
