I don't know if any of you read my post...but I posted a few days ago about being an actor with cystic acne on the lower half of my face. Anyway, I can't afford to see a dermatologist right now, but I'm not sure that even seeing one would help, because I've been on Accutane twice and I've been on just about every oral and topical treatment you could think of. ProActiv, etc.

My mom is very much into holistic and natural treatments and she found out about this book called "The Acne Prescription" by this guy named Dr. Perricone, I think she saw him on "The View" or something. So she sent the book to me. He basically says in the book that there are a lot of things in one's lifestyle that can contribute to acne...stress, diet, lack of sleep, genes, etc. These are all things that have been factors in my life over the past few months...I've been really stressed out, I've been eating poorly, I haven't been sleeping...I just haven't been taking good care of myself. So I decided to be proactive about the situation instead of feeling sorry for myself...I've taken some yoga classes, have followed the diet he outlines in the book, which basically consists of eating anti-oxidant rich foods (it's a little hard at first), and have been forcing myself to get more sleep...and guess what???

my skin is slowly clearing up. And I've only been doing this for a week. Of course I still have a few zits, but I do see improvement in my face...and I feel so much better health-wise. The diet can seem a little restricting, but it's totally worth it. I'm not finished with the book yet, but I truly believe in what this guy is saying...especially since he is not just a dermatologist, but someone who suffered from severe acne throughout his life as well.

Has anyone else heard of this or tried it? I just wanted to share this with you all...because I know how frustrating it can be to go from medication to medication with no results...and this seems to be far! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!!
