soupyhead, I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going so well for you. The thing is, Psyllium Husks swell up to fifty times their original size in order to absorb toxins. I suspect that if you don't consume enough roughage you may experience constipation which could be exacerbated by this increase in bulk. But when you do have a bowel movement, I believe you will feel emptier than usual and cleaner as a result.

I myself have bowel movements at least once daily, generally twice. However, I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables: at least four portions of each daily. Also, I get very regular, vigorous exercise (5km running or 10km cycling daily and lots of abdominal crunches and resistance exercises). I probably should have explained these things when I outlined my regimen, since I suppose they are strictly a part of it.

pr0ps, acne is undoubtedly a multi-factor condition. I myself believe that my acne was exacerbated by wearing gel in my hair with my fringe on my forehead. Nowadays I have my fringe waxed upwards! And with respect to dead skin cells, I ensure that they are kept to a minimum by exfoliating daily. Regarding bacteria, it important not to encourage cross-infection by spreading it around. The things is, in general I think the external aspects are the easiest to crack - it's the internal factors that are difficult.
thanks EV and yes SweetJade, it cleared things up. thanks. :)

anyways, what cosmetics/med do you still put on your face? what brand of exfoliating agent and cleanser do you use? i think im gonna follow you as you both have success strories. :) (sorry for the questions, EV and SweetJade). but you guys enlighten me from the knowledge you have (im sure others do as well). :)

oh and SweetJade, ever thought of creating your own book? :) like about healthy lifestyles, beating acne naturally and through diet. im sure you know better from the other authors as you are more SPECIFIC and TECHNICAL about healthy diet and such. this would help people who still doesn't discover this forum or doesn't do searches online. im sure you can do it from your knowledge. :) just a thought. lol!

as always, your help would be very appreciated. thanks.
pr0ps, all I do regarding topical treatments is cleanse, tone and moisturise twice daily (morning and night) to remove dead skin cells and pollutants, tighten the pores, maintain elasticity and prevent sun damage. I use the Simple range of products. I also exfoliate daily using Johnson & Johnson's Clean & Clear Oil Free Exfoliating Daily Wash. Obviously these are UK products, but I'm sure there are US equivalents.

Nowadays, I would never consider putting anything harsh on my skin, even if I did get the odd spot. The worst thing you can do is aggrevate your skin by overdrying it. And I know it's difficult not to pick, but if you can help it then try not to do that either. Besides, a breakout always looks worse if you've picked it than if you leave it alone.
Hi senoflys  Please excuse me for taking so long to reply to your questions. Regarding Epidermx, I have used it in the past and found it to be very effective at literally grinding down old cysts and helping red marks to fade. But it has the negative effect of reddening one's face. And beware of using it on active acne. Some people claim that it helped theirs, but in my experience it causes cross-infection and only angers new outbreaks. Since using Epidermx and also having two microdermabrasion treatments (very painful) I have resolved that the best healer for my old acne is time (although I do ensure a regular turnover of new skin cells by exfoliating daily). It's miraculous enough just for me to be free of new breakouts :) I truly wish that you get there too

Kelly03, I should probably post this on your thread, really, but I'm short of time at the moment. I looked into a liver cleanse and discovered that one is supposed to undertake a parasite cleanse in preparation, using Black Walnut Hulls, Wormwood, and Cloves. Hence I sought the ingredients at the health food and herb stores in my town, but even the Chinese herbalist didn't have a clue about what I was looking for :D I considered buying some Milk Thistle but I thought I ought to do things in the correct order. So that's on hold for the mean time until I have more time to research it.

If you're still experiencing an initial breakout then hold on in there - it will pass. There's an accumulation of rubbish in your digestive system that is suddenly being coaxed out and unfortunately there's no easy way out for it. Please update us of your progress!

I'm sorry to hear about your diarrhoea, omega47. It does seem that the supplements affect different people in different ways. As Anonym0us says, you might consider taking the lowest dose possible to begin with and build up from there. Regarding the pressure in your life, like your dematologist I also feel that it could be affecting the condition of your skin. I know it is very hard but try not to focus on your skin. Concentrate on your new school term and be patient with your acne because I'm afraid it won't go away overnight. Did you speak to your dermatologist about the cleanse, by the way? I was thinking of contacting my old dermatologist to get his opinion about this regimen.

heymikey1981, I don't see why you can't combine this regimen with accutane. I suppose you are worried that the supplements will flush the accutane out of your system. I believe that's doubtful to be the case, but it if bothers you then take the pills a few hours apart so that the accutane can get to work before the other supplements do.

Hello blah-de-blah  I think an initial breakout is quite likely on this regimen, as Kelly03 exemplifies, and its severity probably depends on how inefficient your digestive system has become. I'm afraid the only real way to find out is to try it for yourself. Good luck ;)

Hi health15 :) Another member already asked me about Dr Natura's Colon Cleanse and we established that the fundamental ingredients were the same as those of my regimen. I'm sure you'll take heart from the testimonials on the web site where people claim that their acne has cleared up. If you have concerns about the changes in your toilet habits then I do advise that you start on a Friday evening with a free weekend ahead of you. And, yes, we think it is best to wait until the initial cleanse is over before starting the probiotics. But overall, don't be nervous about cleansing your digestive system - you will look back on it as the best thing you've done in years! The benefits don't end with your skin. I am confident that you will realise your dream of having the confidence to go without makeup.

I'm very happy to hear about your success Anonym0us :) It is wonderful to hear that you are free of topical medication. All they do is exacerbate the problem by making the bacteria more resistant and over-drying your skin. Hopefully you have broken the cycle and can experience a period of genuine clarity. And long may it last!

Hi there c0nfused! It sounds like you've cottoned on to the idea of combining the various regimens that are "fashionable" on the boards at the moment. And that's a good thing! Exercise will definitely help your skin maintain its youthfulness. I also use a steam room at least once a week. I believe it has aided the shrinking of my enlarged pores which I used to think were ruined forever!

I don't know about skin-organ relationships but I also want to learn more. I have tried searching but to no avail. I am sure somebody will provide useful information on soupyhead's thread :)

Stay happy everyone  EV

Hiya, vintagedream. I see from your other post that you are quite concerned about cleansers. Firstly, can you tell me where you're from? I'm from the UK and I use the Simple range of cleanser, toner and moisturiser which I have always found to be very mild and gentle. Regarding the oiliness of your skin, hopefully it will become less oily on this regimen. And you should apply moisturiser even though your skin is oily. If you use a toner as an astringant and pat your skin dry, it should be ready to have moisturiser applied. You may find that the oiliness is your skin's reaction to not receiving enough moisture from the outside.

Regarding the rest of my skincare routine, in the morning I exfoliate with Johnson & Johnson Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash which is a gentle exfoliant to give that feeling of removing any grease and dirt from the pores. Every four days or so I apply a mud-based face mask (with tea tree extract) for about forty minutes to an hour to tighten the skin and remove any deep-buried impurities. The one I use leaves my skin feeling lovely and it's Superdrug's own brand. There's not much more to it than that. I've stopped applying harsh products to my face because they cause more harm than good!

Concerning the fast, I only suggest 24 hours, accompanied by taking double the dosage of supplements, as outlined on the first post of this thread. That should allow your system to purge itself of the initial backlog of waste that's causing problems. Then you can carry on taking the normal dosage for as long as you feel necessary. I've cut back to half nowadays but I suspect that I might as well cease taking them at all because I have no active acne. To be honest, I had got to that stage by the six month mark easily (and it took a lot less to get to 80% better), but I am paranoid that if I suddenly stop the regimen, it will all come crashing down. I don't think that would really be the case, though.

Some people have suggested that you can become dependent on this extra fibre to promote regular bowel movements. But I don't think, with the quantities used in this regimen, that it is particularly likely. These supplements aren't intended to make your bowel movements more regular, per se, but rather they should promote a cleaner bowel function.
hi EV! i'm from the Philippines. it's a very hot country. :p

anyway... thanks for replying so soon...

I've researched on Johnson & Johnson Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash, and i found it has the following ingredients:

Aqua, propylene Glycol, Sodium laureth sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, polyethylene, disodium lauroamphodiacetate, hamamelis virginiana, lauryl methyl gluceth - 10 hydroxypropyl-dimonium chloride, farnesol, glycol distearate, glycerin, laureth-4, sodium carbomer, tetrasodium EDTA, PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate, parfum, lactic acid....

Studies have shown that propylene glycol and sodium laureth sulfate, are toxic... and these are poisons that can get into your body. but hey, if it works for you... you're lucky. :p

As for me, i really want to find a natural mild cleanser, that would clean my face and not cause me to breakout. i'm currently using Aubrey Organic's Natural Herbal Facial Cleanser and Astringent, but i've only been using it for 5 days, so i can't say for sure yet how it's going to help me.

can i eat apples on the first day? ;) on the 2nd day, i can go back to eating normally again?

uhm, EV... can you personally assure me that if i take on this regimen, it won't actually make my acne worse and beyond control? :D that's just what i'm really afraid of right now... sorry, am i too apprehensive? :D

take care...

P.S.
how did you get rid of the existing red marks from acne that healed?
