Well, I just got back from yet another disappointing derm visit. I'm 25, and have tried SO many different prescriptions for acne. My latest effort was being on bc pills, Retin-A, doxycycline, and benzamycin for 14 months. I was hoping to get Accutane, but instead I got Minocycline and clindamycin to go along with the retin-a I've been using. What the hell?!! If the combo I was already on didn't work, what makes the derm think that the new prescriptions (which are practically the same thing) will work?? It's SO frustrating! (Sorry, I'm venting!!!). Anyways...he said to wait another 2-3 months, and if it's still not working, then I *might* be a candidate for Accutane. Anyone have any experience with retin-A + minocycline + clindamycin? Thanks :)
im sorry to hear this... if this stuff is not working in a months time then you should go back for sure. dont take no for an answer. that is what i did, my derm put me on minocycline (i believe for the 3rd time) and i was really fed up after the first month. i looked brutal and i felt deep down accutane was my last to see results... you have to communicate that it is absolutely neccessary that you be put on the accutane, if the time comes

good luck
I am 27 and have been on Retin-a, differin, birth control, antibiotics, etc. I finally got Accutane about 1 week ago. I would switch doctors if I were you...there is no reason why you should have to suffer this long.

I agree. I'm pretty upset. I have Kaiser, and getting a derm appointment is pretty tough. The derm told me to come back in a couple months, so if my acne is still bad then, I'm going to DEMAND the Accutane. But, who knows-- maybe the clindamycin + mino + retin-a will do the trick (I kinda doubt it though)... Thanks for the replies guys :)
