I'm curious... What was the experience like? Was the initial break out really awful? How often do you get pimples now, if any?

I have very mild acne. Its very persistent though and after course of every treatment it likes to come back. It loves it infact  . I'm thinking that accutane is probbaly the only thing left, that or shut up and put with it! haha. :D
I'm not sure what "course of treatement" you're using, but in order to keep the acne away you will probably have to do some sort of daily regimen. If your acne is very mild as you say then going on Accutane would probably be somewhat excessive.

I'm on 100mg Doxy a day and i use Clindamycin Topical morning and night. Spots still appear...

I agree accutane is possibly a little over the tope for the likes of me, but if nothing else is going to stop the spots, then accutane it is...

Thanks for your reply!
Well, my acne wasn't very severe, but it was VERY persistant. I only had to go to the derm, tell him all the things I had tried unsuccesfully and he decided to put me on accutane. It might seem drastic, but don't forget that not everybody gets the same dose. If I remember correctly, I took 20mg a day, which is a low dose. The outbreak wasn't very pleasant, medium severity. One warning: do NOT tamper with your zits while on accutane. They can look as "ripe" as can be, but every time I tampered with a zit it got all red and swollen and left red marks afterwards. No tampering, and the outbreak shouldn't be too bad.
I had persistent mild acne and my derm put my on accutane.

The initial breakout was pretty bad (worst acne ever). But then it totally cleared up.

Now I get the occassional breakout. Am also using topical clindamycin wipes at night and occassionally (when I get I get a break-out ... usually at my period) I'll use a bit of retin-A or the asprin mask to dry things up.

The accutane definitely helped - cleared the persistent acne. Now it's just mild monthly/hormonal spots ... not constant mild acne.
Thanks for your replies peeps!
anymore for anymore?
