Camellia Oil Users
Feb 7, 2006
I thought those of you who use camellia oil might want a less expensive source than some of the brands mentioned on this board. OilsByNature has camilla oil at less than $7 for 1 lb., which is about 17 fluid ounces. REMOVED Their business caters more to soap and lotion makers, but anyone can order from them.

The main difference in pricing is the companies promoting it as a beauty product have more overhead costs. Beauty products are considered to be a cosmetic or if a product claims to heal any type of ailment, then it's considered a drug by the FDA. Either way, the product requires more labeling and testing than if they didn't make cosmetic or drug claims, not to mention the fancy labeling for eye appeal.

Distributors of products that will be eventually used in soaps and lotions, like OilsByNature, are selling an oil, nothing more. The packaging usually is in very plain plastic bottles with not much more than black and white labels. It's up to the purchaser as to what to do with it and how to promote it. With soap and lotion making the products cannot be mixed with other oils, as it may drastically change the end result of the soap or lotion. Plus with any product, larger quantities often times will bring better savings.
