is it just me or once you start using proactiv you can't stop?! sometimes it dries out my face, sometimes my face feels like thick leather... there is no normal feeling here when i use this as directed. so i stopped using it as often...seemed to be ok...but then i started breaking out with these tiny little bumps ALL over my forehead and various zits here and there. NO GOOD! i've never even had this happen before. so, this morning, i used it, and everything is already clearing up, yet, i have the leather face feeling.

so i guess my question is, how do i stop using proactiv solution??? is it possible? is proactiv really just evil? need some help here! thanks in advance to anyone who replies!

Try using Oxy daily wash with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Medication. I believe Proactive uses benzoyl peroxide but at a low percent. I use it twice a day; let it sit on my face for about two minutes then wash off. You can feel the difference after each wash. You may experience dry skin or redness but that eventually goes away after a week or two. You can buy this at any drug store or grocery store.
Good Luck.

That's true. I would never use Proactiv.
My sister ordered it recently because she got like 5 zits on her face and it seemed so horrible to her (since she's 25, and I guess occasional skin problem is a big deal to her).
But anyway, she started using it and noticed that although Proactiv helps, it dries out skin way too much.
People get hooked on it because once you start using it you kind of have to continue since your skin gets so used to it.
That goes for all other sorts of medication, if you use it long enough eventually you'll NEED it.
I've seen those Proactiv infomercials and they pretty much tell you straight up that you'll have to use it for the rest of your life.
Who wants to spend $30-40 (or however much it costs) every couple of months? That's insanely pricey.

I'd just find a good cleanser and stick to it. Skin will improve on its own over time.
