HIM, I totally know what you are talking about!!! It is a relief to see somebody post a topic on this because I've been starting to suspect the same thing over the past 2 years.

I started getting acne at age 11, and up until age 19 I was using everything from noxema to retin-A creams, antibiotics, etc...except I never tried proactiv. I always had acne on my T-zone and NO WHERE ELSE. The skin on my cheeks were so smooth and clear. It was the only region of my skin that still looked nice.

Then when I was about 19 or 20, my family convinced me to start using proactiv and I have been using it for about 5 years now. It left this weird dead layer of skin but it managed to lessen the acne in my T-Zone so I kept using it.

Over the last 2 years the proactiv has not been as effective, so I've been going back and forth trying other products, sometimes going back to the stuff I used to use as a teen. But it seems like the skin on my cheek built up some kind of dependence on proactiv, so when I don't use it I'm getting these little bumps all over my cheeks where I NEVER had acne before. Whenever I go back to proactiv the bumps disappear, but my skin is missing the glow that I had while using other products.

It is driving me nuts. I am HOPING that if i just "tough it out" some more, my skin will adjust to not having proactiv. I've been going for about 3 weeks now w/o proactiv and I have these bumps all over my face. However, my skin tone and the overall healthiness of my skin looks better than I've ever seen it in the past 5 years.
