Nutrition and Acne
May 28, 2006
Ok well this is the first time i have posted on these forums. I have had acne since i was 14 (im 20 now). It is moderate-severe with cysts forming all over my face. I have tried multiple antibiotics (teracycline, monocycline and some others that slip my mind now) and still use topicals (i am currently on tazorac).

Well the reason i am posting is that i have just come to realize the direct connectiong with nutrition and my acne. I was actually living in italy for a whole year (i just got back a week ago) and while in italy my acne became very manageable. I wasnt doing anything different that i had done the previous 5 years but i went from dozens of cysts and dozens of whiteheads to 2-3 white heads and one or two cysts every so often.

I am back in the states now and i have begun to break out all over my face. With cysts, white heads, and red spots. I am convinced it is the food. Over the past week i have indulged in all the foods i have missed since i was gone and i am sure all those greasy foods are the culprit. While over-seas i didnt eat very healthy. I ate pasta and pizza everyday and had chicken maybe once a week but i never drank any milk or ate anything processed. The pizza in italy is very different that american pizza. it is very thin and has almost no oil in it (sometimes they sprinkle olive oil on it after its done) and has only a few slices of mozerlla on-top.

well now i am convinced that it was this lack of processed foods that made my acne become so managable and that with a health diet i could get to to go away completely. The question i have is what should i eat. i know it will be mostly vegetables and fruits but what else can/should i eat.
Im 23 and I started to get acne a few years ago. I tried lots of things, antibiotics, topical creams. Then I tried proactive and it really helped my face. I have some scars that I want to get rid of so I have been eating Fruits and vegetables, nuts and juice 8 glasses of water and Clear Pores herbal pills. The herbal pills have herbs that are known to heal skin conditions. They have great before and after photos and tons of testimonials. It comes with face wash but I am happy with my proactive so I just ordered the pills. After one week one this diet I feel great and I think my skin is healing faster with the pills and the diet because I am not eating processed foods. I am going to post how I do this week. It takes willpower but after the second day your skin looks better and it motivates you to keep going. Good luck.
