Am now in the process of trying to figure out what foods could be the culprits and the only constant appears to be coffee and/or soy milk. Did anybody have results by eliminating those items from their diet? Are there any food items that are common acne triggers?
I applaud you for taking this step. But it'll require patience and a lot of trial-and-error. Some people can tolerate certain foods better than others. I myself am very susceptible to chocolate, but I know plenty of people who can eat it all the time and never get acne. Likewise, I know people who get a pimple if they eat anything with dairy, but for me, it takes a lot of dairy to see any effect. If you're serious about wanting to find out what foods cause your skin to break out, you need to start fresh. By that, I mean you need to detoxify your body and reach a point where you're only eating whole, unprocessed foods. This is not a state you reach overnight. If you're like most people, you need to transition your way there and when you do finally get there, you have to stay at that point for some time and let your body cleanse itself of all the impurities you've been feeding it. You should see a noticeable improvement in your skin not to mention your overall health. Once you've established this baseline, you can slowly introduce "suspect" foods one at a time to see how your body reacts. I did this and what I discovered is that my body can tolerate whole grains and minimal amounts of dairy. However, it is much more sensitive to sugary foods like chocolate. But it's a great way to learn how your body responds to food. People can tell you what foods are good or bad, but ultimately only you can figure that out for yourself. But keep in mind, it's a long process. You've been eating processed foods for years. You can't undo the damage in a week or two.
