I am a 16 year old male who developed acne around age 12 or 13. It has only became worse since my first break out. I get so depressed when i look at my friends and other kids around school and relize i am the only kid with acne as severe as mine is. Most of my closest friends have probably only had a few small pimples their whole life, as where i consistantly get a few new pimples everyday. my main problem is on the side of my face where i have a big patch of pimples. it looks like a huge rash! Im going to see a dermatologist for the first time in a few days, from what im reading im thinking Im gona ask about "spiro". I just hope i can start to clear up before school starts again in augest!!
I really hope everything works out for you. I know how you feel. I'm having a pretty rough time now too. :(
Hi: I just place a thread, I understand how you feel. Why don't you give proactive a try along with any meds the doctor recommends. I have been their and now use this product and when I say it works it does.

Hang in their, it will get better.
Try Proactiv!!!

I am on it now - looking great so far (one week)
I ran into a friend I haven't seen in a while and her skin looked SO good!
When I complimented her on her skin, she told me to use Proactiv!
It can't hurt to try.
I will update on these boards my experience with it.
Good luck
gvc2008 - I originated a Spiro "miracle" post....it was a miracle for me, but this is a serious medication that is mostly prescribed for women since it reduces testosterone in the body. When you go to your derm maybe you should start off with an oral medication like Minocycline and a topical medication such as Tazorac, Retin A or Differin. Since you are so young this may be all you need. Many of my friends are clear from just oral and topicals. Good luck.
I know exactly how you feel- every word. I have tried everything. Good idea going to the derm... I wouldn't reccoment ProActiv if you have pretty extreme acne... I think it's more for people with a little less severe skin problems. I tried it and the lotion only clogged my pores... so now im on an antibiotic and some really really strong wash... seems to be working ok. we'll see how it goes. good luck with everything- if you need to vent im here!

CAn I ask you what wash you are using and what antibiotic your taking?
ive been on minocycline from my family docter along with retin-a-micro. It worked great for about 6 months untill i started breaking out again. So my docter raised my minocycline dosage and put prescibed a cream called AZELEX. The new stuff doesnt seem to be doing anything, espeacially the azelex. Its CRAP! My face feels so dry and it hurts to do simple things like chew food. I would like to try the retin-a-micro with the higher minocycline dosage to see if that does anything because the retin A has worked for me in the past.

p.s. has anybody ever done a chemical peal??? do they work???
sorry to hear that. I hope everything works out for you. I have been having acne since I was nine years old. Its six years later and I still have them. I have scars and I do feel sad looking at my friends and other people with clear skin. Why couldn't we have their luck? They don't even realize that! when they see just a zit, they freak out. What about us? We have serious skin problems and we have to live with it everyday! If it doesn't go away, I think we have to learn how to accept it and be ok with it. Don't let it stop you from doing what you want. You're just like everyone else except that you have a lot more pimples than the average person. Buena suerte :)
Im 17 and I know EXACTLY how you feel!!! It's amazing coz it sounds like ur reading my mind!!!!! I have acne scars and it is so embarrasing. No one else at my skool has skin like mine. I have been suicidal over it.
It's tough living like this :( I graduated HS back in June and my acne was dying down. Then throughout the Summer it got REALLY bad. My breakouts are at least 4-5 every single day. Here I thought things were suppose to get better after High School. Im in college now and in every class im in, im the only one with acne. It's so frustrating knowing that you work hard every single day trying to clear up your skin. Yet there are people who don't do a single thing and have perfect skin.

Acne has kept me from visiting this very special person to me. She dorms right near the college I go to and asked me to go visit her someday. I'm too embarrassed to show up looking like this :( especially after she had seen me when we graduated back in June. *sigh* one day I will have some confidence again. Good luck to everyone on this journey of pain and frustration.
Acne was ruining my life,i was asked for night out with some mates i would say yes and then day or so before i would have a breakout and would have to make an excuse and just sit at home. Same thing with meeting a lady or feeling embarrest going into work. Ive just turned 26 and my skin has just become clear after trying everything out,ive cut out fizzy drinks, dairy products and pasta and replaced them with plenty fruit, vegetables and the difference have been instant. Good luck and hope you improve and your life gets better....
