I know that this may sound crazy, but I have been using Head n Shoulders shampoo for treating my acne for about 6 months now and it is working. I use it as a spot treatment, especially when I get one of those cystic type. In the shower, I use it as a body wash on my chest and back. I started with a sample size bottle and after that I bought a big bottle. Be careful, though, as it can be very drying. I usually spot treat at night with it. It's got something to do with the sulfur in it.
It's not the sulfur, it's the zinc. I use Head and Shoulders because I get these large, painful cysts on my head and was told to use it. It works good so I'm not surprised it would work for acne on other parts of the body.
Ironically, I buy the target brand of Head and Shoulders and it does not contain salicyclic acid. If you read through the 1000's of posts here, you will find that those cookie cutter products like clean and clear that are sold are ineffective for many people. That being the reason we find posts like these. Many people have to step back from the traditional methods to tame their acne and many people find success in those odd things that work.
Another girl found her acne cure in a bottle of Herbal Essence conditioner. When I tried her method, washing with it twice a day, I found it dried my skin out. Using it as a spot treatment, rather than face wash, may be the way to go.

I'm definitely going to try Head & Shoulders though, since I have some at home anyway!

I'll try anything at this point!!
