Go for it
Oct 1, 2003
Dude, I just had to reply to this topic. Go for it! I was in the EXACT same boat as you. Mild acne with red spots left over from past acne. But it absoloutly KILLED my self confidence in high school. I hardly ever talked to girls, and when I did I was SO embarrassed, that I would constantly look down at the floor or something. At my graduation, I walked by myself through the ceremony part because I Was too embarrassed to ask a girl to be my escort. That was 1 year ago. I am now 19.

I was recently on doxycycline for about 5 months which helped a ton, but when I went off it, the mild acne came back. I was so frustrated that I went straight to a walk-in clinic and asked to see a doctor. I told the doctor my situation and he suggested one of two things. 1.) Go back on the Doxycycline or 2.) try Accutane. I chose the Accutane, and later that day I popped my first pills (30mg/day). This was one month ago (September 1).

Let's fast forward to today (October 1). I just got back from my second doctor appointment with a refilled prescription of Accutane. He asked me if I had any side affects and the only ones I have expereinced so far are: dry skin and lips, a small red patch of skin on the back of my right hand. The positives? Well, let's just say that I no longer have trouble talking to girls, I am once again going to the gym (was too embarrassed before), and my life is just rocking right now. For example, last Friday night was the FIRST night I have gone to a club(only have to be 18 to get into clubs here), and during the first hour there, a woman approached ME, and asked ME to dance. After that I hooked up with a few other girls, even got a few nice kisses in there. That was the first time I had ever really kissed a girl, and I kissed two in one night! Then today when I was at the pharmacist renewing my Accutane prescription, the female pharmacist goes to me, "I hope you don't mind me saying this, but you look really great, you shouldn't even be on this medication." And my face isn't even 100% clear yet. I mean yes, I do not have any active pimples, however, I still have several red spots left from past pimples.

Look, I am not trying to brag, I am just saying that if you are fed up with having a low self esteem, embarrassed to talk to girls, and want a clear face, Accutane can help you. I mean, depending on where you live, it might not even cost you much. I live in Canada, and so far it has cost me $10 to go on two months of Accutane. The first prescription cost me $60, and I got $50 back from my medical. The second prescription cost me nothing. Plus, I didn't have to pay anything for any lab work. Granted, I did have to get two needles for bloodwork, but I mean come on! That's a very small price to pay for such a boost in confidence.

Trust me dude, it is definetly worth it! Why else do you think there aren't more people here saying that it is great? Probably because they are clear and have no need to visit this board. As for why I am here, out of habit I check this board every day, something I have been doing for the past 2 years.
