I spent my entire life completely acne free. Everywhere I went, strangers would comment on how beautiful my skin was. I'm not exaggerating at all. I felt very fortunate, and never took it for granted. I used Clean and Clear face wash and Aveeno moisturizer for years. Suddenly, about a year ago, I began to have horrible breakouts for no explicable reason. I had been on the same birth control for about a year (avian) and never had the issue.

In the past year, I stopped taking birth control, thinking maybe that was causing it. I drink "green smoothies" daily and had an 8 month bout as a vegetarian. I recently reintroduced chicken though (only the hormone-free kind), thinking maybe the vegetarianism was doing me no favors and I'm trying to see if this will make improvement. I stopped drinking coffee about two weeks ago as well. I used to drink one cup a day. I take multivitamins, 600 mg of fish oil a day, and B12. I restrict my consumption of milk and have done so for about two years now. I have noticed no difference in the acne when I switch from almond milk, to soy milk, or to rice milk. I don't seem to be allergic to any of these. I only eat 70 % dark chocolate when I do eat the stuff. I consume very little fried food and use only cold pressed olive oil when cooking. My fiance is allergic to gluten, so I rarely eat anything containing it either. In fact, we are both health nuts in terms of food and I mostly eat raw. I also exercise 5 days a week.

I tried the oil cleansing method for a month and a half. I wanted to give it a fair shot, but it did not improve my situation.

I tried Pro-Active but it was too harsh for my skin.

I have recently been using cetaphyl but it isn't changing the situation. I stopped using my former products (clean and clear and aveeno) because they didn't seem to be doing the job.

Someone else on this forum mentioned using Apple Cider Vinegar as a cleanser. Any thoughts?

I'm just so confused. Why, at age 22/23 suddenly go haywire? I eat healthier than anyone I know. I use mineral makeup and drink blended vegetables twice a day for God's sake! What do I have to do!? Sometimes i won't leave the house for weeks and thus, wear no makeup, so I can't see that as being the cause. Maybe I should get back on a different birth control. Thoughts? Also, has anyone heard of Splenda being inflammatory? Maybe that is a contributor.

The only thing that has changed in my life is that I moved from Indiana to Florida. (Also, I began getting some acne even at the tail end of my living in Indiana.) But I would think that after a year, my skin would have adjusted to the climate.

I've done endless research on health and how it relates to acne, but nothing I try seems to do any good. This is the first time I've posted on a forum like this. I guess I just thought this was a fleeting thing, and then suddenly I realized; It's been a whole year! What the heck.

Thanks for listening! Any advice welcome.
