im curious what the difference is ?? ... cause i used the gel before ... and went off that cause it didnt seem to work real well ... i then went on retin A micro ... but that was really harse and made my skin red and peel all the time ... now my doctor has given me differin cream ... anyone know how this differs from the gel??
Differin gel does not have alcohol in it. The gel is more for oily skin while the cream is more for normal/combo skin that might be sensitive also. I'm sure the gel absorbs better into the skin. If the gel didn't work for you then the cream will not either. You do however have to give the medication 8-12 weeks of use before you can say something worked or not. I've been on Differin cream for 9 weeks now and while I've seen a reduction in the cystic acne I'm getting more "regular" type acne than before. I have a derm apt. tomorrow and I'm planning on asking him about Retin-a. Yes, retin-a is more drying but also heard it can work for people where Differin didn't work. The thing is how you use Retin-a. You should wait 20-30 minutes to apply Retin-a after washing your face (Even with the Retin-a micro). You need to first start out using it every other day until your face gets somewhat use to the product then gradually work your way up to every day.
